We Love You Whitey

Posted by batik bagoes

Whitey has been sick for a very long time, and many of you have been praying for him and for his mom Barb of The Daily Gs. Whitey just couldn't stay any longer and went to the bridge. It's breaking my heart for both him and especially for Barb. Here's what Barb had to say:
Last night I spent all night with him; loving him, touching him and talking to him. While we sat together I started going through some of my photos so I could chose one for this post. So many wonderful photos... but then I came upon this one. This was taken just 3 months after I first brought Whitey home to live with Gandalf and Grayson. It was Thanksgiving Day 2009. They were in my office window, whiffing the fresh airs and all the good Thanksgiving Day smells. And they were finally buddies, for the first time. It will always be one of my most favorite moments. Whitey liked it pretty good, too.
Love you Barb and we are sending you big healing hugs.

A Sad Homecoming

Posted by batik bagoes

We're home safely and had a great time as well as a few frustrating times, but I'd do it again in a heartbeat. We came home and our dog Little Bit talked and talked telling us that she was so happy that we were home.

I've not looked at a computer screen since we left on January 19th. I decided to take a break from blogging and at the time it seemed like a great idea. Now? Not so much. While we were gone we lost a very dear friend to cancer. He's in heaven now and watching over Miss Bee and all his family and friends. I love you Miss Bee and I love you Sarge Charlie. I can't turn off the waterworks.

This wonderful tribute to Sarge Charlie was done by Linda of Are We There Yet?? Thanks Linda! Tons of hugs to you Miss Bee.

I'll let all of you know about our trip to Hawaii very soon and of course share some great pictures.

Sugar's Furry Friend

Posted by batik bagoes

I'm a BIG fan of Sugar the Golden Retriever. She and her mom, Maria Rosalyn Acero, are a daily read of mine. Sugar's mom wrote a book called Sugar's Furry Friend. I purchased a copy and read it a few days ago. The book is geared for children ages 3 to 6 years old, but I found it a very pleasant read. Here's what Toni F., Teacher said:
"Sugar's Furry Friend is a delightful children's book about a Golden Retriever who discovers a chipmunk in her backyard. As the story unfolds through four seasons, the visually appealing illustrations not only capture the true to nature course of time, but also the heart-warming joy found in the budding friendship between the two."
The seasons play a very large part in this book and the interaction between Sugar and the chipmunk. During spring and summer they play and have fun and then in the fall the chipmunk is busy getting ready for winter. Pretty soon the chipmunk is gone and Sugar waits for the chipmunk to return. And in the spring the chipmunk does return and the process is repeated.

I found the book delightful and intend on giving it to my great grand-baby. If you want to purchase this delightful children's book and also support a fellow blogger go HERE to purchase Sugar's Furry Friend. I know your little ones will enjoy it very much. There is also a puzzle you can purchase too, and if you order soon you'll have either one or both before Christmas.

I'm Telling You!

Judy at Judy H-J-s Thoughts - A Twinless Twin awarded me the Tell Me About Yourself Award. If you've not visited Judy she has a lovely blog that I would read and not comment on (I know Empress Bee I'm not supposed to lurk). Here's what Judy's blog is about:
I am a Jamaican twinless twin who lost my identical twin sister Janine on October 16, 2008. Here I share pictures, articles, poems, music videos, quotations etc. I mainly write about being twins, my experiences since the death of my twin, coping with loss and grief and the wide range of interests that my twin and I shared over the years.
Thanks Judy I appreciate you thinking about me.

Here's the rules:
  • I must tell 7 things about myself
  • I must pass it on to 15 other bloggers.
Here's are Judy's 15 picks:

Comedy Plus
How to become an Einstein?
Mommy Growing up
A Rural Journal
First Day of My Life
Mom's Best Nest
My Crazy Life
Heartfelt Balance/Handmade Life
AboutBloggingTime!
Bloggity Blog
Notes from the Nelsens
Art @ Home
Tina's PicStory
Speed of Life
a mommy's lifestyle

So here's seven things about me:
  1. I don't follow the rules very well so I'm not going to tag 15 people to do this. If you want to play along let me know and I'll come visit your post.
  2. I met Judy (the lovely lady that tagged me with this meme) through Entrecard. I know many don't care for Entrecard, but I've sure met lots of folks through Entrecard.
  3. I love all things boating. I love both our boats, and I adore the big cruise ships. I can hardly wait for our cruise to Hawaii.
  4. I have lots of friends, but my very best friend is my husband.
  5. I have a 41 year old son and two grandchildren. The oldest grandchild gave me a great granddaughter last December 27th.
  6. I hate cold weather and abhor winter even though I live in central California and it doesn't snow here. I like to wear shorts, t-shirts and flip flops.
  7. I'm a happy person 99% of the time. I love life and love beginning each day. Life is an attitude and I learned that long ago. I can make it a great day or I can complain about anything and everything. I'm going to make it a great day.
Now all of you go out and make it a great day too.

Mo and Babs

Posted by batik bagoes

I received this email from a blogging buddy that many of you know and love. I feel so bad for her and we had a close friend that was burglarized last weekend that lost his computers and all his data. But Babs has lost her blog entirely. Back up your blogs folks. Back up all your important things. Anyway, here's the message from Babs.
Hi all

I have no blog now. My web host had a server go down and they have lost my data. This email address is a replacement until I can sort a more permanent situation out.

All those years of writing and photos gone. If I start up again, I will totally do things differently. I never keep my blog photos once they are posted, and I trusted my host to keep a backup of my data. I paid for the service, but I hold out little hope that they have a backup safe now. What makes me even sicker is that I downloaded a backup two weeks ago, to make a duplicate for testing purposes. Once I had uploaded the duplicate, I trashed the backup! can you believe that? Only I would do that.

Of all the thousands of sites they host, why does mine have to be one of those they can't restore?

Could you please spread the word that I won't be reading and commenting on blogs for a while. I have to at least try to recover my 50's and 60's stories from a web site (wayback.archive) Jaffer sent me. It will be a slow process I imagine, but I really don't want to lose those memories.

Que Sera Sera.

Babs x

Tor and Anna

Posted by batik bagoes

Last Friday afternoon I got to do something that I've wanted to do for many years. I got to meet Tor and Anna from Oslo Norway. His website is called TorAa Mirror. They have traveled to the United States before, but didn't get close enough for a meet. This year was different. We started talking about getting together some months ago and needed to get the dates to make our meeting happen. During their visit in the area that only left Friday and most of Saturday while our club was at Driftwood Yacht Club. Tor said... 'We shall meet' and meet we did.

They spent all evening and well into the night with our club and then returned to spend the day with us before they resumed their travels. We had a fabulous time and enjoyed their company immensely. To say they are wonderful people is an understatement. Click on any photograph to biggify.
In the first picture is Anna and Tor on the back of our boat. The second picture is Anna, Tor, Me and our vice commodore having a chat.
During my introduction of them to our club and the folks of Driftwood Yacht Club they became honorary members of Delta Marina Yacht Club and got their own name tags. They also got a very nice bottle of Rombauer Chardonnay.
Left to right: Director Georgia, Vice Commodore Duffy, Hubby Zane, Anna, Me Sandee, and Tor!

The video below was taken after breakfast on Saturday morning. Just one more gift that we wanted them to have.
Now we just need to travel to Oslo Norway to visit them. We love you Tor and Anna.

Meeting Lisa Ceaser

Posted by batik bagoes

Several months ago Lisa Ceaser from Lisa Ceaser Photography and Live and Learn let me know that she was coming to San Francisco for training and if I wanted to meet while she was here. Well that was a definite yes on my part. I'm not sure how many years I've been following Lisa but it's been quite some time. To say her photography is amazing is putting it mildly. I've always enjoyed all her spectacular photography posts, but as great as those are I've always enjoyed following her life.

I can remember when her and Mark were dating. I remember their engagement and finally their wedding. There was a very heartbreaking time when they lost their first baby, and then finally the arrival of sweet Megan. All Lisa's family and friends are watching Megan grow like a weed. So wanting to meet was absolutely going to happen.

On Wednesday, June 11th Zane and I headed toward San Francisco to meet and have dinner with Lisa. We were wandering around the Palace Hotel looking for Lisa when she suddenly appeared and we both recognized each other immediately and at the same time. It was then a hug fest and a photo session that hubby gladly handled.

The two photographs above are of the bar and the Pied Piper Bar and Grill Restaurant. We were finally seated at a table and our conversation began. We talked about work, family, love and aspirations. Lisa is a delightful young woman who is warm, loving and caring. She adores her family so very much. It is refreshing to see someone that is so focused and sure of her path.

It was a pleasure to meet you Lisa and we both enjoyed a fine evening of conversation and a great meal. We wouldn't have missed it for anything.
